Here’s something that’s working for me right now.
A lot of the time people fail to ever get to where they need to be because they simply don’t get things done.
They know what they need to do, but for whatever reason they just never get round to doing them.
So here’s a bullet proof method I’ve been using with considerable success to increase productivity and do the stuff that really matters.
Find a routine that works for you
People get too obsessed with the billionaire routines of Bill Gates or Elon Musk and think they absolutely must get up at 5am because that’s what the billionaires do.
But the truth is it may just not be for you.
And that’s Ok.
But if you become fixated on the 5am time and keep missing it, all that will happen is you wake up feeling like a failure, and that’s a pretty bad way to get the day started.
Obviously it’s better to get up early but I know a ton of successful entrepreneurs who work better at night and don’t wake up till 7, 8 or even 9AM.
I personally rise between 6AM and 8AM.
The point is, find out when you work best, and then get up around those times.
Write down everything bugging you
Grab a paper and pen. Write down all the important tasks you know you have to get done.Just literally brain dump it on the paper and get it out of your head.
I have found this process pleasantly therapeutic. What you will find is you have a lot of stuff on that piece of paper that doesn’t really matter as much as you think it does.
The problem is it’s been circling around in your head but once it’s down there on that paper you see how easy it is to get done.
Identify the most important high leveraged tasks and do them first.
You have to think about which tasks give you the highest possible leverage.
By that I mean for me creating a piece of content can be used for multiple ads, emails and re targeting campaigns.
Therefore it’s a pretty important task and something I do every day.
But something like “replying to emails” is different.
Replying to customers is of course important but it is something that can be outsourced.
So in this scenario I would opt to use human labor and leverage their time to get this particular task done.
Me replying to basic customer support is not the highest possible way to to serve people.
I need to focus on those tasks which are aligned with my core goal of serving people at the highest level and have the highest leverage.
The last thing you want to be doing all day is carrying out basic tasks which aren’t a good use of your time.
Here is a cool way to work out what’s worth doing and what isn’t.
Know your worth
I was recently reminded of this in a Joe Rogan podcast but it’s something I have been doing for a while now.
Basically figure out what you are worth and what you would pay yourself for an hour.
Don’t spend time on anything that’s worth less than that amount.
(Obviously I mean work related, not leisure etc).
When you start thinking this way you start making the most out of your time.
You really focus on the high leverage tasks and block out anything else.
It elevates you to a higher level and a clarity of thought.
